Evelyn McCleod
America's Mrs. 2010

On June 26, 2010 I became the first America’s
Mrs. during a wonderful event at the America’s Miss Pageant. What a
blessing to be able to represent the nation during my reign, making
appearances throughout the United States while representing the America’s
Miss Organization.
I take this role to heart, and pump positive
energy into my platform “Healthy, Happy, and Wise,” a program designed to
empower our youth to live heart-healthy, and to encourage students to
avoid substance abuse and destructive decisions. I never miss a beat when
setting my mission into action as an East Windsor Substance Abuse
Commission member and having raised funds for non-profit organizations of
over $30,000. I continue to work this year and have already raised over
$15,000 for non-profit organizations, over $5,000 for non-profit
organizations for which my pageant sisters support. I have founded and
volunteered my time as the director of the Mr. and Miss Next Level Youth
Pageant for underprivileged youth who would otherwise not be able to
afford the experience where, through fundraising efforts, college
scholarships will be awarded.

It is an honor and privilege to be an official
spokesperson for the American Heart Association’s Annual “Start! Walk”
Committee and “Go Red” movement, a member of AHA’s Executive Committee and
having implemented AHA sponsorship as a core program at my company, Church
& Dwight. In 2008, I received the Shining Star award for volunteerism,
East Windsor Proxlomation, Hightstown Spirit Award, Mercer County
Freeholder’s Honors Award, East Orange Commendation and was nominated for
Woman of the Year for the American Heart Association, to name a few.
I am a certified public speaker and longstanding
public servant, and know the pulse of the people, having served as
homeowner’s association President, and having been elected three times to
the State of NJ Democratic Committee and I also work closely with my Mayor
on the Spotlight East Windsor television show.
This past Spring I held a fundraiser to benefit
The Starlight Children's Foundation, raising over $600 to help purchase a
Wii Fun Station for hospitalized children to help them cope with the fear
of undergoing surgery and short and long time care. I look forward
to working with the foundation during my year of reign.
What makes me “tick” is the love of my husband of
22 years, John, and our 21-year-old son, Marcus a rising senior in
college. It is my goal to continually demonstrate that women can have it
all - it just takes a lot of heart!
